Prepping The Surface For Dyeing:

1) Apply Rejuvenator Oil and let stand in a warm or hot place for 6 hours or overnight.

2) Pour some Prepping Agent in a small tub or Tupperware container. Dip 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper into the Prepping Agent and sand off the old colour, wiping the loosened colour off with a clean rag as you go. For perforated leather, sand dry so as to not plug the holes.

NOTE:
If the surface is in very good condition, without cracks, then you only need remove the top layer of colour to be certain the surface is clean, and to lightly scratch the surface to give the new dye some "bite". If the surface is cracked, loose, it is best to remove as much of the old colour as possible. Much of the hard feel of old leather is the dye. When old dye is removed, the leather will feel softer.

For vinyl, a light surface sanding is recommended followed by an application of Prepping Agent using a soft brush to clean the grain. It is impsortant to remove all traces of cleaners, waxes and treatments that may have been applied in the past.

3) Apply Rejuvenator Oil for 6 hours or overnight. Wipe surface lightly with Prepping Agent and allow to dry 6 hours before applying dye. If you have compressed air, blow off the surface paying attention to seams and stitching. Use a tack cloth to remove all traces of dust. You can now procede to the applying dye section of our instructions.
